Marine U15's result and match report 13/12/09.

Bootle, Litherland & Netherton Junior Football League.
Under 15s Sunday Division. Venue: Brookvale 9:45 am ko.

MARINE 7-0 S.W.O.Y. JFC.

Out with the rain and in with the crispy crunch as the U15s finally got to stretch their December legs with a 7-0 victory over S.W.O.Y. JFC at a cold and frosty Brookvale this morning.

With the game getting the go ahead after an early morning pitch inspection, both teams were understandably tentative as they slowly adapted to the testing conditions, but it was Marine who got to grips with the bobbly surface and took a deserved lead through a clinical Jonathon Cahill finish after only six minutes. The first half continued to be one way traffic as Marine peppered the opposition keeper with numerous attempts at goal and it was some surprise to see both teams go into the interval with the only goal seperating them.

That was soon to change as, within one minute of the restart, a great move down the right hand side ended with Ste McHugh thumping in a header to double our lead - and Ste returned the compliment on the opposite flank when he crossed for Paul Foy to register the third from close range two minutes later. The SWOY goal was now under siege as Jay Roberts bagged goal number 4 on the turn after 12 minutes and Aaron Harwood followed up at the far post to claim the fifth goal on 17 minutes. Probably the best move of the match was reserved for Marine’s sixth goal when Ste McHugh put the finishing touch to some quick incisive passing down the left hand side to grab his second of the game. With the frost beginning to numb the spectator’s toes, man-of-the-match Jonathon Cahill warmed us up with an individual strike from the edge of the box, bagging his second goal to wrap it up at 7-0 right before the final whistle.

It was great to get some points on the board for this month while making some headway into the fixture backlog - hopefully we will get the chance to carry on next week against C4th Boys.

Sorry kid, not got a clue who you are. :?: :?:

And good luck to you too - you could possibly make it as a webpage designer if you fail to make it in your 'competitive' league.

Hi Kenny
Good result again.
Have all your remaining games been moved to Brookvale?

No John, don't fret.
We're due back at Buckley Hill for a 10.45 ko this week, again weather permitting.

The league have switched quite a few games to Brookvale for us and other teams because I think it increases the chance of games going ahead in the bad weather.
The pitches there seem to be a bit more playable than Buckley Hill at this time of year.

Nice to know you've missed me though!

My, my, what a memory you have for our not-so-better results - probably our keeper's fault as well eh?
So please, let me educate on the finer points of coaching and explain an understanding of the bigger picture.

Fair do's on the Ormskirk games (the tie went to a replay and pens so that wasn't what you would call a tonking) but they would be the first to admit we were the far better footballing side over the two ties - they just did a job on us over the two games, no complaints from us, only credit to them. Some you win, some you lose. We live with it, top teams have to.
Millenium/Champions League for us was only ever used by former manager Lee to try out different tactics, formations and players. Short term pain for long term gain as they say (ask your coaches what it means), that was his decision and it's been proved over and over again that he knew what he was doing (it was some surprise for us to get as far as we did). I'm confident Mike & Ste sing from the same songbook as Lee and, if ever a game meant anything, I know which team my money would be on.
At the end of it all we have ended up with a great bunch of footballers and an even better bunch of young men.
And we'll be grateful if you could get us an application form for this competitive league you keep going on about because we're fed up of glory hunting and only winning league titles and cups in all the other mickey mouse leagues that we've been in. Maybe we can win some proper trophies like the ones in your cupboard.

Anyways, I digress.

It all goes to prove that you can't win them all and you have to be gracious in defeat - no matter how infrequently that happens. But if we did win them all, I'm sure it would be because we had a different keeper......or is that what you've been trying to say all along?

Your point on opinions is probably the first sensible thing that you have said in any of your posts.

On that point, and in my opinion, you are a deluded idiot.

One's social skills are fine and have continued to serve me well, thank you very much.
These skills have allowed one to tolerate one's obvious attempts to get oneself noticed so that the more inquisitive of us would have a look at one's lad's website.
Get it into your head, no amount of head-working from you will make him any better - if the lad is good enough (and I hope he is) he WILL be given the chance to realise any potential. These days clubs cast their nets far and wide, no potential goes unrecognised.
What will be detrimental to your lad's prospects (and what no decent scout will touch with a barge-pole) is a pushy, headbanging, barmpot parent trying to force the issue.
It's hard enough for young footballers to make it as it is, without the pressure of pushy parents trying to create a future cash-cow.
Do yourself a favour, try taking up fishing or bowling at the weekends and leave your lad to enjoy his football.
And leave these forums of ours alone while you're at it.
