Whilst listening to the moving remembrance service today on BBC I was reminded about the role played by military Chaplain and particularly Father Gerard Weston who was killed in 1972 at Aldershot Barracks in Surrey by a terrorist bombing. I was at school at the time and vividly remember the funeral and the soldiers who came to the funeral many of them serving in Northern Ireland at the time and little older than us. The service was at St Peter and Paul's Church, Crosby. I remember him today.
